Sarah Palin's book tour

From Sean Cockerham in Anchorage --

Sarah Palin posted this afternoon on her Facebook page that her upcoming book tour will include interviews with Barbara Walters and several conservative talk show hosts as well as "local Alaska personalities Bob & Mark and Eddie Burke."

Here's her full post:

I am very, very excited about the upcoming road trip for my book. It will be an honor to meet as many of you as possible!

“Going Rogue” publisher HarperCollins is working hard to schedule book signings across the nation, and we’ll be announcing the locations in the next day or two. I’ve decided to travel to cities outside of the typical book tour venues, and I hope to cover as much of the country as I can.

Palin future

From David Hulen in Anchorage --

Gov. Sarah Palin hands over the keys to the governor's mansion to Sean Parnell tomorrow, and, once again, there's a lot of national media attention coming our way. The bulk of it around the question of what lies ahead. Some of it:

> The CBS Early Show this morning had three Republicans debating Palin's future. GOP strategist Bay Buchanan, commentator and author Ann Coulter and author and NewMajority.com founder David Frum argue over whether Palin's departure with nearly a year-and-a-half left in her term does her in as a national candidate. (Buchanan: "It will hurt her badly in the long run.

Gallup pollster: Palin "did not come to Americans' minds" when asked who speaks for the GOP

From Erika Bolstad in Washington D.C. --

Greg Sargent at the Plum Line, a blog that's part of the Washington Post's whorungov.com project, delved into the Gallup poll that looked at which leaders Americans see as speaking for the national Republican Party.

When asked to name the "main person who speaks for the Republican Party today,"
the poll found that "Republicans across the country are most likely to name three men: Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, and Dick Cheney."

Palin, Sargent points out, did not make the list. So he called Frank Newport, Gallup editor-in-chief, to ask for "more precise numbers."

"Newport told me that the percentage who cited Palin is all of…less than 0.

Palin and Romney

From Sean Cockerham in Anchorage –

Politico and the Boston Globe are reporting “what appeared to be a diss of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin” (as the Globe put it) by Mitt Romney on CNN's "State of the Union" yesterday.

Here’s how Politico described what happened:

Romney, appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” was replying to a question from moderator John King on whether Time’s inclusion of Palin and talk show host Rush Limbaugh on their list of “The World’s Most Influential People” was good or bad for the Republican Party.

Romney, who has not ruled out another White House bid, said he wanted more influential Republicans on the list before adding pointedly: “I think there are a lot more influential Republicans than that would suggest.

Palin out as CPAC speaker

From David Hulen in Anchorage --

This is being reported here and there: Gov. Palin has decided not to attend the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington later this month. From CNN's politics blog:

The Alaska governor had been expected to serve as the headline attraction at the three day event, which is also scheduled to include conservative icons like Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter. The presidential straw poll conducted at the annual Washington gathering is widely viewed as a reliable bellwether of conservative support. Several of the GOP’s past — and potentially future — presidential hopefuls are also slated to address the gathering, including Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.
