U.S. Rep. Trent Franks (R-Glendale) gave Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) high praise Friday after Arizona Sen. John McCain (R-Phoenix) put her on the Republican presidential ticket.
“I am elated with Senator McCain’s selection of Governor Sarah Palin for Vice President.” Franks said. “Governor Palin brings a vibrant spirit, uncompromising principles, a deeply rooted value of family and children, and a record of fearless determination in reforming the broken systems of government that will help to bring exactly the kind of change to Washington that the American people need and have every right to expect."
Franks praised Palin for her public and personal qualities, saying:
"Governor Palin has been a leader in the push for American energy independence and brings both experience and knowledge of the energy issue to the table at a critical time. She has zealously fought to lower taxes, eliminate corruption, cut government spending, and has repeatedly demonstrated herself as a champion for the cause of life. As a mother of five including a son leaving for Iraq in the fall, she understands the challenges and threats we face as a nation, as well as the need to support our noble men and women in arms who make such great sacrifices for America’s national security and for the freedom of every American citizen and generations to come. “In what I believe to be the most important election of my lifetime," he concluded, "I look forward to working in whatever ways I can to ensure that Senator McCain and Governor Palin are elected this fall.”
