Napolitano to lead door-knocking for Dems in legislative races

[img_assist|nid=2198|title=Gov. Jane Napolitano|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=175|height=245]Gov. Janet Napolitano will be hitting the streets in the Phoenix area on Saturday to knock doors and promote Democratic candidates in state legislative races.

The Arizona Democratic Party announced the series of events Wednesday as part of their effort to retake control of one or both houses of the state Legislature for the first time in over 40 years.

"Arizonans are independent thinkers, and they want elected officials who will put their shoulder to the wheel, work together and address our problems," Napolitano said in the announcement. "It's about time that we have a state Legislature that will focus on solving problems instead of partisan games."

The governor is scheduled to appear at Roadrunner Park in Phoenix at 2 p.m., followed by neighborhoods in Glendale and Peoria at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. She will be joined by "candidates and volunteers," though which candidates will be showing up wasn't specified.

However, the locations are within Legislative Districts 7, 9 and 11, all of which Democrats have targeted as key to picking up if they are to recapture the Legislature from Republican control.
