The Alaska Disasta's Last Day

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

Sunday is the Alaska Disasta's last day in office after she just up and quit mid-term, a matter of "stategery" so that she and First Dude Todd can invade the Lower 48 and run for president in 2012. A lucrative book deal, probably with conservative pulp fiction publisher Regerny Press, and guest appearances at FAUX News (if Mike Huckabee doesn't bar the doors) are likely in her future.

As Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin prepares for the next stage of her political career, a majority of Americans hold an unfavorable view of her, and there is broad public doubt about her leadership skills and understanding of complex issues, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

BREAKING: The Alaska Disasta stepping down as Governor

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

The Alaska Disasta, Sarah Palin, announced today that she is stepping down as Governor of Alaska. If you did not catch her press conference, catch the replay. It was a rambling and incoherent series of non sequitur anecdotes. As Steven Colbert might describe it, it was "the craziest f#?king thing I've ever heard."

"Alaskans aren't quitters"... but I'm abandoning my job as governor. Huh?

Here is just a short clip from the press conference. When I find a video of the full statement I will update this post later.

Palin's announcement follows closely on the heels of the publication of a scathing report on the 2008 Republican Vice Presidential nominee, "It Came From Wasilla," in Vanity Fair magazine by

Who speaks for the GOP? "No One" does

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

Gallup has a new poll out which asked the burning question, "Who is the main person who speaks for the Republican Party today?"

Top response: No opinion   37%

Next top response: No one 14%

That's 51% of respondents who cannot readily identify who is the main person who speaks for the Republican Party today.

Gallup had to drill down into the polling data to come up with this headline: Limbaugh, Gingrich, Cheney Seen as Speaking for GOP So that's what "RNC" stands for: Rush + Newt + Cheney = "leadership vacuum."

Let's take a look at the poll results:

Gallup analysis:

Additionally, no one person dominates even among Republicans who are able to name someone who speaks for their party.

The Minnesota Loon trying to become the next Alaska Disasta

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

I lived in Minnesota for a time, so there is no way I am letting Michele Bachmann (R-MN) off the hook for being the stupidest member of Congress. Ever.

I have a theory: Michele Bachmann believes that the Alaska Disasta, Sarah Palin, will have self-destructed before 2012, so she is positioning herself to become the next sweetheart of the far-right of the Republican Party. And that takes a whole lotta stupid:

Keith Olbermann does a great job of explaining why Michele Bachmann is the stupidest member of Congress. Ever. She may have just locked up the nomination of the Republican Party in 2012.

How the right distorts symbols of democracy for their undemocratic ends

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

You will recall that back on February 19, 2009, CNBC analyst Rick Santelli complained about the Obama administration's plans to assist homeowners who are underwater on their mortgages or in foreclosure.

Santelli, who is a multi-millionaire former derivatives trader - you know, the people who invented splicing and dicing of subprime mortgages and then bundling them together into collaterized debt obligations (CDO) of questionable value, and who made millions of dollars in profits on these "toxic assets" until their House of Cards Ponzi Scheme came crashing down - stood in the well of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and called his fellow Americans who are in desperate financial straights "losers.
