When I came home Monday night I found the following message on my answering machine:

Pelosi to speak at Phoenix fundraiser

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is due in Phoenix Friday to speak at a fundraiser for Emerge, a candidate-training group that she helped launch seven years ago in the Bay Area.
Pelosi's appearance will benefit the Arizona branch of Emerge, a labor-backed group that recruits and trains Democratic female candidates for offices ranging from school board to Legislature, as well as schooling women in the inside mechanics of running campaigns.
"I'm still pinching myself," said an elated Dana Kennedy, who runs the local Emerge chapter.
Kennedy helped recruit Pelosi, then a Democratic congresswoman from San Francisco, to serve on the inaugural board of Emerge ...

DENVER -- In the upstairs room of a restaurant near the Colorado Convention Center Tuesday, a group of female delegates to the Democratic National Convention met to discuss the organization to which they belong - one they hope will become a new power in politics, both in Arizona and nationwide.

Dana Kennedy: No repeat of '68

DENVER -- Dana Kennedy, communications director of the Arizona AFL-CIO and a Democratic National Convention delegate pledged to U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), said she doesn't believe there will be anything in the role of Clinton or her delegates to derail the nomination of Illinois senator Barack Obama.

AZ Clinton delegate uncertain about what Clinton supporters' role will be
