U.S. Congressman John Shadegg was mocked by funnyman Jon Stewart and chastised by Bill O’Reilly for his floor speech against the health care reform bill when it came up for a vote last Saturday.

In a “What was he thinking?” moment that has been forever memorialized on YouTube, Shadegg held his chief of staff’s baby, Maddie Thompson, in his arms as he introduced her, “This is Maddie. Maddie believes in freedom. Maddie likes America because we have freedom here and Maddie believes in patient choice health care.

Hours after President Obama exhorted Democratic lawmakers to "answer the call of history," the House hit an unprecedented milestone on the path to health-care reform, approving the Affordable Health Care for America Act late Saturday night that seeks to overhaul private insurance practices and guarantee comprehensive and affordable coverage to almost every American.

Democrats have sought for decades to provide universal health care, but not since the 1965 passage of Medicare and Medicaid has a chamber of Congress approved such a vast expansion of coverage.

After months of acrimonious partisanship, Democrats closed ranks on a 220-215 vote that included 39 defections, mostly from the party's conservative Blue Dog ranks.

Out-of-touch Arizona Rep. Trent Franks (R-Gerrymanderville) has surfaced in a YouTube video in which he refers to President Barack Obama as an enemy of Humanity. This is coming from the guy who voted against SCHIP by the way. Apparently Crazy Franks is one of those people who stop supporting life at birth because it saves him a buck of two. Talk about an enemy of humanity!

This man will stop at nothing to gain the attention of those on the very far right side of the political spectrum. He even recently even held a press conference (along with Rep. John Shadegg) to highlight his blatant racism.

That's the question Republican political operative Sean Noble asks this week in his blog, Noble Thinking. Vernon Parker, mayor of Paradise Valley and a longtime GOP politico, is expected to formally announce his campaign for governor next week. It is believed that Parker would be the nation's first African-American to win election as governor.
