Former Nelson campaign manager says low turnout among key groups cost them

Low turnout among youth and Latino voters was largely to blame for Tim Nelson's defeat at the hands of incumbent and now re-elected Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas, said Joshua Kilroy, who managed Nelson's campaign.

"We were counting on youth voters and especially Latino voters, and they just didn't show up," Kilroy told PolitickerAZ.com

The Tim Nelson campaign Wednesday called for an investigation into the $105,000 donation from an unidentified group called SCA to the Arizona Republican Party, which state Democrats allege violated several campaign finance laws and went toward financing anti-Nelson advertising.

Thomas's campaign shot back immediately, suggesting Nelson was "irresponsible."

Nelson declares victory in Maricopa County attorney debate

The Tim Nelson campaign has declared a "decisive victory" in last night's debate against incumbent Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas, while Thomas called Nelson a "Johnny-Come-Lately" on the subject of domestic violence.
