On July 9, the Blue Dogs in the House sent a letter stating their concerns about healthcare legislation. The message I got from the letter was, "Let's emphasize the problems and slow the process down." Giffords was among the Blue Dogs who signed.
By way of contrast, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, co-chaired by Grijalva and Lynn Woolsey, sent a letter to Obama airing their views on health care legislation. Here is the money passage:
As the healthcare proposal continues to move forward in the House and Senate, we ask that you continue your commitment to the inclusion of a strong public option and do not weaken the language that has already passed through two committees.
