Grijalva, Congressional Progressive Caucus weigh in on healthcare

On July 9, the Blue Dogs in the House sent a letter stating their concerns about healthcare legislation. The message I got from the letter was, "Let's emphasize the problems and slow the process down." Giffords was among the Blue Dogs who signed.

By way of contrast, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, co-chaired by Grijalva and Lynn Woolsey, sent a letter to Obama airing their views on health care legislation. Here is the money passage:

As the healthcare proposal continues to move forward in the House and Senate, we ask that you continue your commitment to the inclusion of a strong public option and do not weaken the language that has already passed through two committees.

Grijalva grabs Progressive Caucus top spot

U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Tucson) has been elected to become co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, along with Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.). The two defeated Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.).

Grijalva vying to lead Progressive Caucus

The Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) will vote Wednesday to determine whether U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Tucson) becomes co-chair of the increasingly-powerful group of lawmakers, according to his office.
