We Will Now Identify Him as “R-400 ft. Outside of Tucson City Limits”

Frank Antenori wants the world to know:

I just don’t want the perception that I live in Tucson.

Antenori was displeased that the Star identifies him as “R-Tucson” rather than “R-Southern Arizona.” He lives right outside city limits, but he sure as heck doesn’t want people to think he lives in Tucson. Checking his voting record so far, in which he is already kowtowing to his new Maricopa masters by voting for massive cuts at the U of A and a $1.6 million blank check for Joe Arpaio, you’d never know he was from down here anyway.

One of the sillier parts of Antenori’s complaint is that saying “R-Tucson” confines him to one tiny part of his constituency, even though his district is much larger.

Cummiskey Resigns

Y’all may have not heard of the Government Information Technology Agency, but it has been run for the last six years by former State Senator Chris Cummiskey. Yesterday, Cummiskey announced he is leaving as head of that office when Jan Brewer is sworn in as governor.

Brewer defeated Cummiskey for Secretary of State back in 2002, which isn’t so much ironic (although Alanis Morissette would think so) as it is an indicator that sometimes the most capable and intelligent don’t get rewarded in our politics. I sometimes wonder how far up the political ladder Cummiskey would be in a more just electoral world.

Cummiskey was, at least by title, my boss back in 2000.
