Left blogosphere often gets it right -- and first

by David Safier
Tedski over at R-Cubed gave himself some well deserved credit for being right about the federal investigation into Rick Renzi's wrong doings back in 2006. The Bush administration was scrambling to keep the investigation quiet, at least until after the election, and the Republic bit on the White House spin.

If the left side of the blogosphere were a hit and miss place that sees its job as carrying the Democratic Party's water, I wouldn't pay any attention to it any more than the traditional media seems to. But as a regular, intense reader of some of the best national blogs that come from the left, I know that they're very careful about getting it right and scrupulous about admitting quickly when they got it wrong, which isn't often.

A little birdie told us....

Taking a page from Barack Obama, John McCain and other pols who have used social media to broadcast their intentions, state Rep. Bill Konopnicki, R-Cyberspace, tells us via Twitter that he is thinking of giving U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick a run for her congressional seat next year.
Konopnicki toyed with the idea of a congressional run last year, when the seat held by Rick Renzi was up for grabs. Ultimately, he decided against it, citing the amount of money needed to run in the sprawling first congressional district and the apparent short supply of support from the GOP.
Kirkpatrick, a Democrat, went ...

And I couldn't bring myself to vote for that Nixon guy, either

So, I was having lunch with a friend of mine last week, and he was telling me how dissatisfied he was with our new congresscritter, Ann Kirkpatrick. In fact, he didn't like her before she ran for office, having been seriously turned off by her performance and attitude during a brief time when she was his attorney a few years ago.

Even so, he voted for her.

"I couldn't vote for Renzi," he told me. "He's so corrupt and he's on his way to jail."

True. I couldn't vote to return Rick Renzi to office, either. He is truly an impressive standout example of pure corruption in a sea of already festering pus.

Really Lazy Posting: National Journal Liberal/Conservative Ratings

I only say that because Tedski first posted on this over at Rum, Romanism and Rebellion. So because our blog is geared for the conservative reader and the “experimenting” independent, I thought I’d also post the ratings for our Congressional delegation as just released by The National Journal.

Here are snapshots of the Arizona ratings with the exception of Senator John McCain and Rick Renzi:

Composite (from most liberal to most conservative):

Senator Jon Kyl ranked at 93.2 C

On Economic Issues:

Senator Jon Kyl ranked at 96.0 C

On Social Issues:

Senator Jon Kyl ranked at 79.0 C

On Foreign Issues:

Senator Jon Kyl rated at 84.0 C

Surprises?

Lazy Posting: National Journal Liberal/Conservative Ratings

The National Journal has released their 2008 Vote Ratings. The results are really no surprise, but after the jump are the ratings for the Arizona delegation, broken up by “issue categories”. I’ll post the Senate ratings later.

Note: The ratings are percentiles, so a member having a rating of 75 would be have a more liberal voting record than three quarters of his or her collegues.

ECONOMY:

Grijalva and Pastor tied with 63 others for most liberal. Flake and Franks tied with six others for least liberal.

SOCIAL:

Grijalva and Pastor tied with 78 others for most liberal. Flake, Franks and Shadegg tied with 42 others for least liberal.
