U.S. House candidate Doug is hitting the airwaves with hard-hitting advertisements on radio and television accusing primary rival Tom McClintock, a state Senator and former member of the Assembly, of denying benefits for soldiers while he received per diem payments from the state.
El Dorado District Attorney Vern Pierson, a veteran and Ose supporter, says in the radio and television spots, “Tom McClintock has repeatedly voted against benefits for California soldiers serving in Iraq … even against benefits for the widows of soldiers killed in action. How does he sleep at night?”
The 60-second radio ad and 30-second television spots hit the airwaves in the Roseville-area district Tuesday, said Ose spokesman Doug Elmets.
Stan Devereux, a spokesman for McClintock, responded to the advertisements tersely. “Their ads are baseless and hypocritical,” he said.
McClintock and Ose are engaged in a heated primary fight for the seat of retiring Rep. John Doolittle, with McClintock accusing Ose of being too liberal and Ose firing back that McClintock is a corrupt lifetime politician.
