DENVER - Addressing throngs of adoring Democratic delegate admirers, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised that the Obama-Biden ticket will win decisively this November with California Democrats leading the way.
At Monday's delegation breakfast at the Sheraton Denver, Pelosi (D-San Francisco) bathed in the adoration of the 441-member delegation who gave her a standing ovation while waving "Madam Speaker" signs.
"California will lead the way," Pelosi said. "Come election day California will give Barack Obama and Joe Biden the biggest victory in the history of our country."
Pelosi, like other leading Golden State female Democrats of late, paused to send a message to those female voters still having trouble getting over the fact that Hillary Clinton did not secure the nomination.
She added that potentially giving their vote to presumptive Republican nominee John McCain would be a mistake they would come to regret.
"It's disappointing when your candidate does not win. But we have to remember it's not just about ‘us' and what our feelings are about the candidates," Pelosi counseled.
"...Voting for John McCain is simply a luxury that America cannot afford," the Speaker added.
