BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - After a day of donations for hurricane relief and subdued party boosting, the California delegation to the Republican National Convention will get back into business with a normal schedule of activities Tuesday.
On the docket today are a brunch at the Lafayette Club on Lake Minnetonka, and a late-night event at the Nicollet Island Pavilion featuring former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
The delegation will also participate in normal convention floor events at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The exact program and speaker list for events Tuesday at the convention has not been released, though California delegation member and former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin was originally slated to speak.
One media outlet also reported that President Bush was scheduled to address the delegates by video Tuesday, after withdrawing from a planned live speaking appearance on Monday.
The regular schedule of events for both delegations and the convention itself was scrambled Monday after Hurricane Gustav's approach on the Gulf Coast region prompted U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the GOP presidential nominee, to Sunday call for first-day events to be scaled back and geared toward raising money for those affected by the hurricane.
McCain is set to receive his party's nomination for president on Thursday night.
