Johnson to have third town hall meeting

Kevin Johnson  will host the third of his series of town hall meetings Wednesday, this one focusing on public safety, as part of his campaign to unseat Sacramento Mayor Heather Fargo.

Johnson, a former NBA All-Star, will host the town hall event at 7 p.m. at David Lubin Elementary School in Sacramento with City Council member Steve Cohn and other supporters.

Topics from other town hall meetings such as education and economic development will also be open for discussion, according an advisory from Johnson's campaign.

Johnson will have eight town hall meetings in all between now and Nov. 4, and his campaign has said he will have two debates with Fargo, mayor since 2001.

The two candidates were also on the ballot in the June 3 primary along with others, but neither received enough votes to win the mayorship outright. Johnson received 46 percent of the vote to 39 percent for Fargo. The remaining candidates received less.
