BLAINE, Minn. - Praise came down from many circles for the speech Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin gave in accepting the Republican vice presidential nomination Wednesday night.

Turns out she might have done some of it on the fly.

State Sen. Dick Ackerman (R-Tustin) told fellow California delegates Thursday that McCain campaign adviser Steve Schmidt told him there was a problem with the teleprompter during her speech.

"It fogged up a little bit, so it was hard to make out the words," Ackerman said at a golf outing to raise money for California legislative races. "I thought it was a pretty good speech."

Palin's address at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, in which she heavily criticized Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama while also listing her own credentials as a groundbreaking candidate, was anticipated by many to be the highlight of this week's convention.
