Peace officers PAC spends to support Huber, Buchanan and Berryhill

The Police Officers Research Association dropped $30,000 into three heavily contested Assembly races Thursday, twice to benefit the Democratic candidate and once in favor of the Republican.

In Assembly Districts 10 and 15, the group spent $10,000 each to support respective Democrats Alyson Huber of El Dorado Hills and Joan Buchanan of Alamo with a slate mailer of suggested candidates to back.

The group also spent $10,000 to support Republican Bill Berryhill in the 26th Assembly District, but California Secretary of State records online did not show how the money was spent.

The group has spent $100,000 this week on independent expenditures to support Buchanan and Huber.

Buchanan's Republican opponent in AD 15, San Ramon Mayor Abram Wilson, got $37,962 in support from the group Californians for Jobs and Education Thursday. No details were available as to how that money was spent.

In Assembly District 30, the group Farmers and Legal Reformers for a Stronger Economy made another $10,846 in independent expenditures in support of Republican Danny Gilmore, in the form of a mailer.

Senate District 5, considered the best chance for Republicans to take a seat away from Democrats, saw its first independent expenditure Thursday, with the CA Tribal Business Alliance Independent Expenditure PAC spending $63,206 to support Democrat Lois Wolk.

That was spent on consulting, design, printing and mailing services for a mailer, according to the Secretary of State's website.
