Bornstein lands endorsement of California Teachers Association

Julie Bornstein, Democratic candidate for Congress in Riverside County, announced the endorsement of the California Teachers Association on Sunday.

The CTA represents over 340,000 educators and school personnel in California, with 8,100 residing in the state's 45th Congressional District. Bornstein was a member of the CTA when she served as a trustee and instructor at the College of the Desert.

The Bornstein campaign also announced two new co-chairs, former state Secretary of Corrections Robert Presley and former Riverside County Supervisor Kay Ceniceros.

"At a time when politics sometimes brings out the worst instincts in people, Kay and Bob remind us that the point of elections is for the people to hire the best public servants they can," Bornstein said in a statement released by her campaign.

Bornstein is fighting to unseat Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (R-Palm Springs), a four-term incumbent.
