A blog entry by uber conservative Tom McClintock on Prop. 8, the initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in California, has apparently enraged the No on 8 leadership.
McClintock is battling Democratic candidate Charlie Brown for control of the CA-04 seat in Congress.
The blog, updated ostensibly by the candidate on Saturday, shows the conservative's position on the state propositions on the Nov. 4 ballot.
Here is the entry:
"Lincoln asked, 'If you call a tail a leg, how many legs has a dog? The answer is four. Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it one. And calling a homosexual partnership a marriage doesn't make it one."
Geoff Kors, a member of the No on 8 executive committee, said in reaction:
"Tom McClintock's comments ...are completely offensive to all Californians. These comments show a level of intolerance that is unacceptable in our state. Comparing California's same-sex couples, many of whom have been together for decades, to dogs is despicable. Tom McClintock, and the other voices of intolerance behind Prop. 8 who wish to eliminate fundamental rights, will be soundly defeated on Election Day. Californians understand that voting no on Prop. 8 will send a clear message that treating any person differently will not be tolerated," Kors said in a press statement.
