A new radio ad for state Sen. Tom McClintock's (R-Thousand Oaks) congressional campaign features primary opponent and former U.S. Rep. Doug Ose (R-Sacramento) warning of the consequences of electing Democrat Charlie Brown.

"Liberal Democrat Charlie Brown would just be another ‘yes man' for Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi's big tax and spend programs," Ose says in the ad, titled "The Best Man." "We don't need another liberal big spender like Charlie Brown in Congress."

Ose also repeats charges McClintock has made during the campaign about Brown's presence at the home of an anti-war protester in 2005 wearing a military jacket. Brown has said the jacket was not part of his military uniform.

Brown said Friday he'd heard of the ad and found it interesting in the face of what Ose said during the primary.

"Ose's quote six months ago was that Tom McClintock has the worst record of anyone in the state legislature on the troops and veterans issues," Brown said. "So which is it now?"
