Another report on hot political races around the country has bumped the 4th Congressional District race into the "toss-up" category.
The Rothenberg Political Report switched the race to replace retiring U.S. Rep. John Doolittle (R-Roseville) to a toss-up on Sunday morning.
In the last month, that race has moved from lean Republican to tilt Republican/toss-up to its current status on Rothenberg's report. The Cook Political Report also labeled the race a toss-up in recent weeks.
State Sen. Tom McClintock (R-Thousand Oaks) and Roseville Democrat Charlie Brown have both run their campaigns for the seat as if it was a highly competitive race, and both the Republican and Democratic national congressional committees have spent thousands on television advertising in the race in the last two weeks.
The Rothenberg report did not change the status of the 3rd Congressional District race, where some insiders in both parties believe U.S. Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Gold River) is potentially vulnerable.
That race is still listed as Republican favored.
