Cook campaign counting on Long Beach and Huntington Beach to carry them to victory

Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cook, Democratic candidate for California's 46th Congressional District, is counting on the cities of Long Beach and Huntington Beach to carry her to victory against U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach).

"She has to do well in Long Beach and she has to do well in Huntington Beach," Cook campaign manager Joe Shaw said. "She has to win by several thousand votes in each of those places."

There are almost 23,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats in Huntington Beach, a city which accounts for more than 43 percent of the district's voters.

Cook has built-in name recognition in Huntington Beach thanks to her position as mayor. Rohrabacher has also lived in the city for years, and frequently surfs on the community's famous beaches.
