Sheehan refuses to concede defeat by Pelosi in CA-08

SAN FRANCISCO -- Peace activist Cindy Sheehan said the latest entry of her campaign blog that she is refusing to concede defeat to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in CA-08.

Sheehan, who ran as an independent candidate, received 16.8 percent of the votes cast during Tuesday's election. Republican challenger Dana Walsh collected 9.3 percent while Libertarian Philip Berg secured 2.2 percent of the vote.

San Francisco voters, nevertheless, sent Pelosi back to Washington with a dominant 71.7 percent of the vote.

In addition to refusing to conceding defeat, Sheehan, who earlier in the election alleged that she had been the victim of sabotage, complained that her effort in getting elected to Congress was hampered by Pelosi's refusal to debate her, organized labor's lack of support and by a conspiracy of the press to conduct a ‘near total media blackout' of her campaign.
