Bratton, Harman rumored to be on list for Obama cabinet

Two Southern California Democrats, Los Angeles Police Chief Bill Bratton and U.S. Rep. Jane Harman (D-Los Angeles), are rumored to be candidates for Homeland Security Secretary in the administration of President-elect Barack Obama, according to the Associated Press.

Harman, a member of the centrist New Democratic Coalition, ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination for governor in 1998. Since 2000, she has represented the 36th Congressional District, which includes many beach cities along the L.A. coast.

Bratton has served as L.A. Chief of Police since 2002. Before then, Bratton held the same post in Boston New York.
