Battle for SD-19 down to provisional ballots

Republican Tony Strickland's lead over Democrat Hannah-Beth Jackson in the 19th Senate District has shrunk to 1,328 votes, down from 2,250 votes a week ago.

However, almost all of the mail-in ballots have been counted in the 19th, which spans Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties. Jackson has to make up significant ground with provisional ballots, which can be contested by both campaigns.

"We don't know what the outcome's going to be but we're counting on the provisionals to help us," Jackson campaign manager Sandra Sanchez said.
