WASHINGTON - California's senior U.S. Senator, Dianne Feinstein, showered praise on President-elect Barack Obama's newly announced national security team Monday and predicted they all would quickly sail through the Senate's confirmation process.
Here is Feinstein's statement:
"President-elect Barack Obama has put together an extraordinarily experienced national security team to advise him as he navigates the challenges ahead. In my view, it's about as good a team as one can get.
All members of this bipartisan team have played important roles in the national security or law enforcement arenas. They understand that our nation must lead the world by tackling complex issues with thoroughly considered policies and actions.
This strong team of advisors will deliver on the President-elect's vision of a renewed American foreign policy that balances diplomacy, military power, intelligence, law enforcement and morality to make the world a safer place. They have all been thoroughly vetted, and I believe we are prepared to move quickly to confirm them."
On Monday, Obama named these people to these posts:
Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State
Robert Gates, Secretary of Defense
James Jones, National Security Adviser
Eric Holder, Attorney General
Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Homeland Security
Susan Rice, Ambassador to the United Nations
