President-elect Barack Obama's selection of Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano as secretary of Homeland Security drew sharp criticism Monday from two Orange County congressmen.

"I think that it sends a clear signal that we're in for a long fight on this amnesty issue because she's clearly an open borders advocate," U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-Fullerton) said, according to the Orange County Register.

As a border state governor, Napolitano has often dealt first-hand with illegal immigration. However, her opposition to some of the more stringent illegal immigration policies, such as requiring voters to verify their citizenship, worries U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach).

"Napolitano is someone who is not committed to stopping the most important security problem that we've got in America today and that's illegal immigration," Rohrabacher told the paper.
