Previously announced during the summer, Assembly Speaker Karen Bass' (D-Los Angeles) leadership and committee chair team will begin work soon during the new legislative year.

Assemblywoman Lori Saldaña (D-San Diego) will be the Speaker pro Tempore, alongside Assemblyman Alberto Torrico (D-Newark) as the Assembly Majority Leader and Assemblyman Kevin De León (D-Los Angeles) as Assistant Majority Leader.

The Health Committee will be headed by Assemblyman Dave Jones (D-Sacramento), Transportation by Assemblyman Mike Eng (D-Monterey Park), Judiciary by Assemblyman Mike Feuer (D-Los Angeles) and Business and Professions by Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi (D-Hayward).

De León is also chair of the Appropriations Committee, and Assemblywoman Noreen Evans (D-Santa Rosa) will chair the Assembly Budget Committee.

Assemblywoman Julia Brownley (D-Santa Monica) will chair Education, Assemblyman Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) will head Water, Parks and Wildlife and Assembly member Cathleen Galgiani (D-Livingston) will head up Agriculture.

Governmental Organization will continue to be chaired by Assemblyman Curren Price (D-Los Angeles). Assemblyman Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) will chair Housing and Community Development.

Bass has not yet formally named someone to head the Elections and Redistricting Committee.
