California: Ag

AG's spokesman told me surreptitious taping was illegal. Was he taping me when he told me that?

The last time I spoke with Scott Gerber, spokesman for AG Jerry Brown, was about a month ago. I asked him why the AG's office was investigating not just ACORN but the fake pimp and fake prostitute who went to...

Obama Violates International Treaty

The Obama Administration may be the biggest law breakers coming out of Chicago since the Capone gang.

They will not allow Border Patrol to raid employers hiring illegal aliens.  The AG has told drug dealers, have at it, we will not enforce Federal marijuana laws.  Barack himself has said, not paying your taxes IS a qualification for my administration.

Now Obama has closed the border to Mexican trucks, in violation to NAFTA, a treaty created by President Bill Clinton, a fellow Democrat.

The purpose is not to make our roads safer.  No, it is to protect the Teamsters union--if businesses had the choice between lower costs non union Mexican firms, and high cost, bribe demanding US unions--who will they select?  The Teamsters would go out of  business.

Here we go on a busy day:

• California's Leon Panetta's confirmation finally got out of committee, and should be confirmed by the full Senate shortly.

• Some advice to the conference committee: IGNORE REP. JERRY LEWIS, who was appointed to the conference committee for the stimulus. The man is corrupt. On the other hand, I'm sure if you built a highway near his land, he might be willing to talk.

The Washington Post is reporting that Obama is considering Lloyd Dean, head of Catholic Healthcare West for the Health and Human Services gig.  (h/t CapAlert) Dean was a big Arnold fan during the so-called (and failed) "Year of Healthcare Reform.

Not so opinionated? AG Brown issuing opinions at one-third the rate of Lockyer

Attorney General Jerry Brown has issued only 28 formal opinions in his first two years on the job. His predecessor, Bill Lockyer, averaged nearly 39 such opinions a year.

The decline is a result of “short staffing and a tight budget,” according to Brown’s press secretary, Christine Gasparac.

Formal opinions represent part of the routine work of the AG’s office. They often have to do with matters like whether someone is eligible to run for a particular office, whether a municipality can acquire land, or if a local government have interpreted the law correctly. These requests can come in from city or county governments, state agencies, the legislature or other such bodies.
