Sorry about technical woes keeping site down -- regular blogging resumes tomorrow

Thanks for the e-mails of concern. My blog lives on. Though pretty soon after a format change it's gonna be known as America's Finest blog, not America's Finest Blog. Nice conflict of interest, Al Gore. Maybe this explains why you...

Rio, Chicago and the 2016 Olympics: The issue isn't Obama's ego. It's America's.

I was flabbergasted to watch "This Week" on ABC News this morning and see five well-informed, presumably well-educated commentators and journalists discussing entirely from the prism of U.S. politics the International Olympic Committee's decision to give the 2016 Summer Games...

From the Courage Campaign: 2010: It's time to make a decision

There has been a lot of discussion about when to go back to the ballot to repeal Prop 8 over the last few months.

One thing we cannot do is let the clock run out. With that in mind, please read the statement we just put out to our community partners and chime in with your reactions in the comments.

From: Rick Jacobs, Chair, Courage Campaign and the staff of the Courage Campaign
To: Our friends, allies and partners in the marriage equality movement
Subject: 2010: It's time to make a decision

I write to you today with urgency and seriousness. After months of discussion and debate, the time has come to make the tough decision.

The Reaction: Tough On Crime Robots Cannot Come To Terms With Reality

The federal ruling to reduce the prison population by over 40,000 is the result of a years-long, if not decades-long process, where the failed leaders run amok in Sacramento have let the corrections system grow completely out of control, preferring to warehouse prisoners into modified Public Storage units instead of embarking on same, smart policies that would save us money and make us safer.  In response to this damaging comment on the state's failure, the political leadership has... signed up for more failure:
Attorney General Jerry Brown said in an interview that the order is probably not appealable, but eventually the state will have to consider going directly to the U.

Obama: Bigots Need Representation on Supreme Court

Some are upset that Republicans are calling Sonia Sotomayor a "racist".  That is not true, all they are doing is quoting the bigoted statements and decisions of Sotomayor--hoer actions and words are racist.  When Senator Tent Lott speculated what a different world this would have been if Strom Thurmond had been elected President in 1948, the Democrats the Times, the mainstream media called his a racost.

Sotomayor says that Latina women make better judges that white males, the same hypocrites keep quiet--worse, claim those who note she is a bigot, denounce those who say the emperor is wearing no clothes.

She rules that discrimination against white firefighters is OK.

For black bourgeoisie, Gates akin to Rosa Parks

I part ways with part of the emerging conventional wisdom that everyone looks bad in the Henry Louis Gates' arrest flap. Maybe that's how it looks to most of America, but that's not how this will always be perceived by...

Obama Creates Trade War: US Jobs to be Lost

Obama really wanted to help American unions.  But how?  After all, they spent more than $150 million to put him in the White House.

As part of the stimulus package, meant for control over States and businesses, not to fix any problems, the White House wanted the Federal tax dollars spent ONLY on American made products and services.

That means if a component of a product is made in another nation, it can not be used.  The Canadians are the first victims of this and they are striking back.

"Outrage spread in Canada, with the Toronto Star last week bemoaning "a plague of protectionist measures in the U.

Obama to Secured Creditors: Drop Dead

If a socialist wanted to kill private ownership of business, it is easy.  All you have to do create a bankruptcy, and then tell the secured creditors they are last in line, behind government and unions.

"A doomed third-rate car company majority owned by its militant union run by Italian management building congressionally designed green cars no one wants to buy financed by taxpayers into perpetuity because no private investor in their right mind will touch the company with a ten foot pole.

Colleges to go the way of Newspapers?

What if Harvard or UC Davis did not exist as brick and mortar education sites--would anybody notice or care?  Would it make a difference?

Just as the Internet has ended the newspaper monopoly on information and news, it has also ended the monopoly of propaganda machines financed by the rich and taxpayers.

The purpose of education is to educate, not to socialize, playing football or teach future film makers.

If you want to play sports, let the sports provide the venue to train, teach and play.  If you want to learn film making, let Hollywood provide the technical training facilities--it is not up to the poor to create another Spielberg.

Criminal Illegal Aliens Don't Like Detention

Those who have violated our laws are upset--they do not like the accommodations government gives them while they use all technicalities to keep themselves in this country.

I have an idea.  You can go back to you nature land, live outside prison walls and continue your legal fight against deportations.  You made the choice to violate the law, you must live with the consequences.  It is not up to the poor of America to provide you with Perrier and cable TV.

As for attorneys, the ACLU, the Democrat Party, ACORN, Barack supporters should be paying for them--you violated our laws, this is your minor punishment--there are many private groups capable of providing you with legal assistance.
