California: Barack Obama

There has been a lot of discussion about when to go back to the ballot to repeal Prop 8 over the last few months.

One thing we cannot do is let the clock run out. With that in mind, please read the statement we just put out to our community partners and chime in with your reactions in the comments.

Subject: 2010: It's time to make a decision

I write to you today with urgency and seriousness. After months of discussion and debate, the time has come to make the tough decision.

Some are upset that Republicans are calling Sonia Sotomayor a "racist".  That is not true, all they are doing is quoting the bigoted statements and decisions of Sotomayor--hoer actions and words are racist.  When Senator Tent Lott speculated what a different world this would have been if Strom Thurmond had been elected President in 1948, the Democrats the Times, the mainstream media called his a racost.

Sotomayor says that Latina women make better judges that white males, the same hypocrites keep quiet--worse, claim those who note she is a bigot, denounce those who say the emperor is wearing no clothes.

She rules that discrimination against white firefighters is OK.

The governor has joined Barack Obama, U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan and education reformers in trashing a 2006 state law by Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, that they say prohibits student performance from being used in teacher evaluations. So why'd...

Last night I was on Angie Coiro's Green 960 show to discuss the failure of the May 19 propositions and where we go from here. Opposite me (virtually speaking) was Sen. Mark Leno, although we agreed much more than we disagreed (which is how I prefer it!).

Leno said something quite interesting, and unfortunately the best I can do right now is to paraphrase it. He said something to the effect of "for too long Democrats have been Arnold Schwarzenegger's enablers," that they haven't done enough to push back against him.
