ANAHEIM – Former Sec. of State Bill Jones addressed the California Republican Convention moments before the start of the presidential debate Friday night, revving up the dinner crowd with a  appeal to support John McCain.

Marin still expects to speak at convention

McCarthy, Dreier named to GOP convention posts

Three members of the California Republican delegation have been named as officers for the Republican National Convention next month in St. Paul, Minn.

U.S. Reps. Kevin McCarthy and David Dreier and National Committeeman Tom Morgan will be principal officers at the convention, Sept. 1 through 4.

Morgan will be the convention treasurer, which stems from his role as treasurer of the Republican National Committee.

McCarthy will be chairman of the National Committee on Resolutions, or the Platform Committee, while Dreier will serve as parliamentarian.

CA GOP names full convention delegation

The California Republican Party has released its delegate list for the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul in September.

The full list includes 173 delegates, 170 alternates and over 400 guests. Bill Jones, former California Secretary of State, is the delegation chairman, and the total delegation is the largest of any state at the convention.

His vice chairs are State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring, former Gov. Pete Wilson and State Sen. Jeff Denham (R-Merced).
