McNerney's name hits Internet as possible Obama pick for Secretary of Energy

Although it's only been days since the voters of California's 11th Congressional District reelected him to his second term in office, U.S. Rep. Jerry McNerney's name is floating around the Internet as a possible pick as the next Secretary of Energy.

Although he doesn't yet have a seat on the House Energy Committee, McNerney is arguably Congress' most experienced and knowledgeable member on the subject. Prior to being elected for his first term in 2006, McNerney, who holds a doctorate in mathematics, earned a living as a wind energy scientist and engineer.

McNerney well on way to soundly defeating Andal in CA-11

DUBLIN - Using a deadly combination of raising more money and then deploying a better ground game and advertising strategy, first term U.S. Rep. Jerry McNerney trounced  GOP challenger Dean Andal in the much-watched CA-11 Tuesday night.

"It's gratifying to reelected," an exhausted McNerney said in a brief interview with PolitickerCA.com early Wednesday morning. "It tells me that we're doing things right and that constituents in my district care about having regular access to me. As we go forward, that policy and practice will not change."

McNerney cautiously optimistic about chances in CA-11

PLEASANTON -- From an overtly political perspective, you could say that U.S. Rep. Jerry McNerney began his 2008 reelection campaign just a few short weeks after winning office in 2006.

After all, it was back then that the freshman Democrat began a series of seemingly innocuous visitations to all parts of the sprawling CA-11 district. Dubbing them "Congress at your Corner" events, McNerney would sit outside of supermarkets, coffee shops and ice cream parlors and just listen to his constituents.

DCCC puts out biting, ‘People's Court'-type ad against Andal in CA-11 race

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has focused its attention on the festering Delta College scandal that keeps dogging CA-11 Republican challenger Dean Andal in the form of a new, hard-hitting TV ad dubbed "Andal's Scandal."

Set against a "People's Court"-type background theme, the ad casts a spotlight on the Stockton Republican's role as a consultant for a Sacramento-area developer who was tapped to build a multimillion-dollar satellite campus for Delta College in the Mountain House community outside of Tracy.

McNerney takes gloves off with launch of attack ads against Andal in separate markets

Congressman Jerry McNerney launched his first two attack TV ads of the CA-11 race on Tuesday.

Following a raucous Saturday night debate with GOP challenger Dean Andal, the Democratic congressman has decided, apparently, to take off the proverbial gloves in his effort to retain his seat in the 11th Congressional District.

The first ad, called "Require" is playing in the San Francisco/Bay Area market, and focuses on the Stockton Republican's allegedly misogynistic voting patterns while a member of the California Assembly.
