California: Jerry Brown

AG's spokesman told me surreptitious taping was illegal. Was he taping me when he told me that?

The last time I spoke with Scott Gerber, spokesman for AG Jerry Brown, was about a month ago. I asked him why the AG's office was investigating not just ACORN but the fake pimp and fake prostitute who went to...

Gov race: Will Jerry Brown 'peak' the day he becomes a formal candidate?

I had an interesting interview on KOGO 600 AM with Dan Weintraub the other day about the 2010 governor's race. (I'm now a multimedia blowhard, FYI.) He pushed back in his low-key way at my presumption that Jerry Brown was...

Hate crime cop: What did Jerry Brown know and when did he know it?

In October 2008, I wrote a few blog posts and an editorial about the decision of the California Attorney General's Office to help the CHP fight a judge's order that it disclose evidence in two pending misdemeanor hate-crime cases involving...

A great (i.e., highly critical) read about Jerry Brown from the liberal POV

The [state's] crisis is so profound that it may present an opportunity for California to fix its badly broken government. Coalitions on the left and in the center (the right is sitting on the sidelines, enjoying the Armageddon) are...

2010 gov's race: Gavin Newsom isn't catching up. He's treading water on his way to a decisive loss.

Calbuzz has a great post up about the folly of treating all polls as equals. The Calbuzzers were incited by a misleading poll suggesting a tightening of the Dem gov's race between Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsom. Among other...

The Reaction: Tough On Crime Robots Cannot Come To Terms With Reality

The federal ruling to reduce the prison population by over 40,000 is the result of a years-long, if not decades-long process, where the failed leaders run amok in Sacramento have let the corrections system grow completely out of control, preferring to warehouse prisoners into modified Public Storage units instead of embarking on same, smart policies that would save us money and make us safer.  In response to this damaging comment on the state's failure, the political leadership has... signed up for more failure:
Attorney General Jerry Brown said in an interview that the order is probably not appealable, but eventually the state will have to consider going directly to the U.

Jerry Brown Wants Court to Order Pay Increases for His Attorneys

In 1974 Jerry Brown supported collective bargaining.  This one policy is the main reason unions now control government--with the mandated high pay and benefits.

Now he doesn't like it because the union representing his attorneys seem to be either honest or unable to steal.

Now Brown has gone to court to get the courts to set pay scales, instead of the union negotiating team.

Like a union owned liberal, rules mean nothing to Brown.  But, a judge gave a real reason for not giving the attorneys that work for Brown a raise.  ""This litigation falls under the category of 'be careful what you ask for,'" Justice Scotland wrote.

Oakland Facing Bankruptcy

Yet another city is about to go under.  This time it is the crime capitol of California, Oakland.

For the past three years that Castro lover Ron Dellums has been Mayor.  For the eight years before that Jerry Brown was Mayor, 11 years of these two and the city is about to go bankrupt.

Any surprise?

The options for Dems pining for a new face in governor's race

Could Jackie beat the old pseudo-idealist or the young reckless womanizer? Maybe. Last month, I opined that Antonio Villaraigosa's exit from the 2010 Democratic gubernatorial price created an opening for another big-name Dem, given Jerry Brown's and Gavin Newsom's...

Et tu, Jerry Brown? CHP not only state agency shielding Migden

Last week, I wrote up the clear and compelling evidence that the CHP gave special treatment to a state senator whom all evidence suggests was driving under the influence of drugs. Now Randy Shaw of the BeyondChron web site looks...
