Lieu forms exploratory committee for Attorney General in 2010

Assemblyman Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) filed paperwork this week to run for California Attorney General in 2010.

Lieu is the third Democrat to make the move, joining San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris and former Assemblyman Joe Canciamilla.

Current Attorney General Jerry Brown could still run for re-election if he decides against running for governor.

U.S. Attorney mum on running for state attorney general in 2010

Though there's a push from some law enforcement officials and talk among Republican insiders, U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott said he won't commit to whether he'll run for state attorney general in 2010 as a Republican.

Scott, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California, said his immediate plans are to join a Sacramento office of a national law firm as a partner after he steps down from his current post on Jan. 4.
