The LA Times is reporting that William Bratton is stepping down as LAPD chief.

LA Times Upset Doctors Refuse to Kill People

Washington State has a law allowing "assisted suicide"--murder to some, with permission.

The law allows doctors to refuse to participate in murder.  What a concept.

Now the LA Times thinks it important to force doctors into killing people.  "Critics, including the American Medical Assn., contend that the better response is to offer patients adequate pain medication and reassurance.

"They want to force doctors to act against their conscience and to become essentially vending machines for individuals who requisition overdoses to kill themselves," said William L. Toffler, a professor of family medicine and executive director of Physicians for Compassionate Care Education Foundation, which has opposed assisted-suicide statutes."

Any wonder the Times is in bankruptcy?  Any wonder people refuse to buy the newspaper or give it any credibility.  Imagine, a newspaper demanding doctors kill patients.  Is this a public service?

LA Times Promotes 73 Weeks of Unemployment Pay

Currently the unemployed get 53 weeks of unemployment pay.  The LA Times wan that to go up by 20 weeks to 73.  Also, the Feds are willing to "loan" us money for this, $2.5 billion--if we increase the weeks by 20 and the pay by $25 per week.

Once the Federal loan money is spent, the rules stay the same and the employers of California, that already have a bankrupt system, will be forced to pay massive payroll tax increases.  Which will cause more unemployment.  Makes sense if you have no economic sense or do not care about people.  The Feds program is a guarantee to economically destroy what is left of California jobs and revenues.

Readers question state Senate leader's sincerity

A stopped watch is right twice a day, and the LA Times is right a couple of times a day.

Vocational education is important to the students--not everybody is going to Harvard or CSUN.  But, want a good job, technical, vocational training gives the students the skills they need and employers want.

Skelton wrote, "I pointed out that the percentage of high school students taking some course in career tech -- formerly called vocational education -- had fallen from 74% in 1987 to 29% last year. Meanwhile, companies have been complaining that California schools aren't producing enough skilled workers."

Democrat Senate Leader Steinberg has said, "I'd written about new Senate leader Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) declaring that his "No.

The Future of Journalism

The SF Chron is about to be closed or sold.  The Salinas Californian is about to go to three days a week.  The LA Times is firing folks as fast as possible.  The Ventura County doing the same and losing circulation and ad revenues.  Even the OC Register appears to be losing it.  The NY Times is in bankruptcy.

Newspapers, for whatever reason are in trouble and closing fast--The Denver and Seattle newspapers are the latest examples of an industry on the brink.

What happens next?  We still want honest information, we need the facts, and yes, we need opinions.

Here is an article, from the Internet, "The Next Right", that gives some direction.

Now the owners of the Sacramento Bee are announcing a 15% cut of all its employees.  The owners blame the economy.

Is part of the reason the economy is tanking because of loss of jobs?  Of course.  Yet the Bee and its owners insist on higher taxes and AB 32 type regulations killing jobs.  In fact, it is the policy of the Bee to kill many private sector jobs.

UTLA To Engage in "Civil Disobedience": Close Down School Board Meeting

UTLA is the union that teachers must belong to if they are to work in the Los Angeles Unified School District. If you have a California teaching credential, and are qualified, you still can not teach unless you  pay dues to this union.  Only through the force of government does this organization exist--no one voluntarily joins the union--either pay dues or flip hamburgers.

Now, they are openly telling the School Board, the police and the parents, they, the "teachers" are going to be a role model of criminal activity.  "At the meeting, some preidentified UTLA volunteers will engage in civil disobedience and may be arrested.
