Linda Sanchez is pregnant with first child

U.S. Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Lakewood) announced Thursday that she is pregnant with her first child.

Sanchez made the announcement in an op-ed column in the Los Angeles Times.

The four-term congresswoman is not yet married to the baby's father, consultant Jim Sullivan, although they have been dating for more than a year.

Brother of Sanchez sisters missing

The brother of U.S. Reps. Linda and Loretta Sanchez is missing off the coast of Southern California after an apparent boating accident.

According to a Friday statement from the Sanchez sisters, officials found debris off the coast that contained fragments from the boat their brother Henry was sailing on with his girlfriend, Penny Avila.

A handful of Californians are scheduled to speak today during the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
