Retired Air Force officer enters crowded SD-4 race

Retired Air Force Colonel Bob Denny said Monday he'll join an already crowded SD-4 GOP race to succeed outgoing state Sen. Tom Wiens (R-Castle Rock).

Denny, a financial adviser who lives in Glen Eagle, said "it's a good time" for him to be entering politics.

"It's something I've always wanted to do, and I think I can do a good job," Denny said.

Denny said he would focus on helping businesses in Colorado, improving roads, and addressing water issues, among other concerns.

Denny said he had not yet decided whether he would petition onto the ballot or enter the May 30 SD-4 GOP assembly.

Denny, 62, is married with three boys.

At least six other GOP candidates have said they're running, including Precinct 131 Committeeman Ed Brewer of Castle Rock, Precinct 58 Committeeman Roger Partridge of Castle Rock, SD-4 GOP Chair John Peterson of Castle Rock, Castle Rock Mayor Randy Reed, former Douglas County Republican Party Chair Mark Scheffel of Parker, and computer consultant Mark Vanderbilt of Castle Rock.

The SD-4 GOP assembly will be held May 30.
