House District 37 Rep Spencer Swalm will host an event on May 20th at the South Metro Denver Chamber Center at 7:30 am that discusses what to do when Ref C ends.
The event is billed "Straight Up with Swalm" which should appeal to the sizable numbers of gang members in Denver concerned that the end of Ref C will personally affect them.
In what's sure to please any homies or homettes in attendance, the noted economist Penn Pfiffner, with the Independence Institute, will be a guest speaker along with Wade Buchanan, president of the liberal Bell Policy Center.
No shivs will be allowed.
"Penn and Wade will be discussing/debating the direction Colorado should be taking now that the end of Referendum C is in view," says a Swalm email announcing the event. "The proposed ballot initiative to end the spending restraints of TABOR in exchange for a reduction in the K-12 spending mandates of Amendment 23 will be the jumping off point."
We're not sure which of the two economists will be representing the Sharks or the Jets, but you know how it gets when fiscal policy is debated in the South Metro area of Denver. As the Swalm email warns: "this will be an informative, lively event that you don't want to miss."
We're getting chills just writing about it.
"When you're a Jet,
You're a Jet all the way
From your first cigarette
To your last dyin' day.
When you're a Jet,
If the spit hits the fan,
You got brothers around,
You're a family man!"
