[img_assist|nid=1211|title=Lilly|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=105|height=147]Four years after a third-party campaign to unseat U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Denver), George Lilly is back in the CD-1 race – this time, as a Republican.

The Denver businessman, who garnered 2 percent of the vote in 2004 while running for CD-1 on the American Constitution Party ticket, has reactivated his Web site, which asks district voters to “join George in the battle for the Constitution and the battle for America.

“George is not a neocon, but a Constitutionalist who believes that the Federal Government has very limited duties and responsibilities as enumerated in the body of that document,” his Web site states. “If elected to Congress, he offers but one promise which applies to all of his constituents -- good government!”

The "issues" part of his Web site states Lilly favors re-instituting the gold standard and reining in the Internal Revenue Service, and he opposes the Real I.D. Act and the current use of the U.S. military. 

Lilly, a native of Denver, previously lived in Arizona and California, where he served on the San Mateo (Calif.) Republican Central Committee. He moved back to Denver in 1991.

His Web site prominently lists him as a "Ron Paul endorsed candidate."
