League of Conservation Voters to begin airing anti-Schaffer TV ad this week
By Jeremy Pelzer, PolitickerCO.com ReporterThe League of Conservation Voters, a Washington, D.C.-based national environmental group, will unveil a new TV ad Wednesday questioning Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bob Schaffer's environmental record.
The ad, called "Fingerprints," will raise "critical questions about former Congressman Bob Schaffer, who earned a place on LCV's Dirty Dozen List for consistently voting with Big Oil and against Colorado values," according to a LCV press release.
The group will screen the new ad Wednesday at the State Capitol, the release stated.
Asked for comment, Schaffer manager Dick Wadhams responded, "There is nothing terribly surprising about a bunch of wealthy, elitist liberals doing Boulder Liberal Mark Udall's dirty work for him."
The League of Conservation Voters is one of a coalition of national environmental groups targeting the Colorado U.S. Senate race, among other races. The coalition's goal is to elect a 60-member majority in the U.S. Senate to deal with global warming.
