To drill or not, that’s the question

The seesaw battle to drill or not to drill for more energy (both oil and gas) continued today with Bush pushing for more drilling and exploration according to the AP.

Meanwhile Colorado Democrats US Rep Mark Udall and US Rep Ed Perlmutter said on Monday that "America needs to wean itself off its addiction to fossil fuels," according to 7News Denver's web site.

Democratic leaders in both the House and Senate echoed Perlmutter and Udall in response to Bush with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid accusing Bush and McCain of using the offshore drilling issue as a campaign ploy according to the AP story.

On Wednesday McCain outlined and energy plan that would include offshore drilling, nuclear production and as much as $2 billion in research for clean coal technology.

"The next president must be willing to break with the energy policies, said McCain according to CNN "not just of the current administration, but the administrations that preceded it, and lead a great national campaign to achieve energy security for America."

Democratic presidential candidate Barak Obama responded to the speech by chiding McCain for reversing his position on off-shore drilling.
