In a sign national Democrats are confident about Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Mark Udall's chances on Nov. 4, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee will stop its television advertising in Colorado by Tuesday, the Denver Post reported Wednesday.
The DSCC, which has spent nearly $4.6 million on advertising in support of Udall against Republican opponent Bob Schaffer, will focus instead on U.S. Senate races in other states, according to the Post.
Udall spokesperson Tara Trujillo told PolitickerCO.com that the Udall campaign only heard about the DSCC's withdrawal on Wednesday morning.
"I think we certainly expect that these big-money out-of-state front groups will see this as a chance to launch more of their smears against Mark," Trujillo said. "But we're confident that Mark's message and the support of Coloradans across the state will help us fight those dishonest attacks and bring about the change Colorado families need on Election Day."
Schaffer's campaign did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment Wednesday evening.
