Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has an 8-point lead over Republican opponent John McCain, according to a Politico/InsiderAdvantage poll released Wednesday.
Obama, who led 53 percent to 45 percent in the statewide poll, held a towering 62-point lead among Hispanics. Obama also led among independents in the state by a 57 percent to 38 percent margin, the poll found.
But a separate Politico/InsiderAdvantage poll found McCain remains competitive in Jefferson County, a key swing area of western Denver suburbs. McCain held a 47 percent to 45 percent lead over Obama in JeffCo, according to the poll.
The statewide survey was conducted among 498 Colorado voters and had a margin of error of +/- 4 percentage points. The JeffCo survey had 636 respondents and had a +/- 3.8 percent margin of error.
Both surveys were conducted on Oct. 26.
