Brad Jones edges into the Colorado Independent's domain

Some Web surfers looking for the Colorado Independent's website might end up at the left-leaning news Web site's ideological rival instead.

Brad Jones, the editor of the conservative news website Face The State, told media critic Jason Salzman on Tuesday that he's the owner of ColoradoIndependent.org - a URL oddly similar to the Colorado Independent's domain name, ColoradoIndependent.com.

Visitors to ColoradoIndependent.org are re-routed to FaceTheState.com.

"They forgot to register all their domains," Jones told Salzman, laughing. But Jones said he might be persuaded to give up the domain name.

"You know, everything has a price," he told Salzman. "We are an independent Colorado news organization." Jones said he's registered all domain name variants of Face the State. "It's basic brand protection," he said to Salzman.
