Wadhams: 'I fully intend to run for re-election'

Colorado Republican Party Chair Dick Wadhams confirmed to PolitickerCO.com that he plans to run for re-election  as party chair next March.

"I fully intend to run for re-election," Wadhams said Wednesday.

Wadhams said he didn't know of any others who planned to challenge him for the chairmanship.

"The election's still three months away, and who knows?" he said. "But if there is opposition, that's fine. That's why we have elections."

The Denver Post reported on Tuesday that Wadhams plans to seek re-election.

Former Colorado Republican Party Executive Director Mike Hesse and El Paso County Republican Party Chair Greg Garcia had been mentioned as possibly running for party chair. But following Wadhams' announcement, both said they would not seek the position.
