GOP activist Shires gets probation, fine

Scott Shires, a GOP activist and resident of Aurora, appeared in U.S. District Court earlier today and has been sentenced to a year's probation and fined $3,450, the Rocky Mountain News is reporting.

Bidlack to run against Lamborn

Hal Bidlack, a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel of El Paso County, has announced that he will be vying for Doug Lamborn's 5th Congressional District seat.

Bidlack, 49, served 25 years in the Air Force and worked as a military advisor to the White House Security Council and State Department.

Bidlack said the three main issues he will focus on during the campaign are fiscal responsibility within the government, proper treatment of veterans and the erosion of the right to privacy under the Bill of Rights.
