Tax fracas just another skirmish in the phony war

When Judge Christina Habas of the Second Judicial District threw out Bill Ritter's property tax freeze last week it was just another political skirmish in a seven years war over broken state budget and revenue mechanisms in which neither Democrats nor Republicans are willing to risk political capital to fix. Instead, say some, each side is looking for political sleight of hand.

Swalm to host 'Life after Ref C' event

House District 37 Rep Spencer Swalm will host an event on May 20th at the South Metro Denver Chamber Center at 7:30 am that discusses what to do when Ref C ends.

The event is billed "Straight Up with Swalm" which should appeal to the sizable numbers of gang members in Denver concerned that the end of Ref C will personally affect them.

The other shoe drops on Bruce, TABOR

When the chair of House State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee, Paul Weissmann, agreed to postpone until tomorrow the committee vote on lifting TABOR spending restrictions in return for nixing much of Amendment 23, Doug Bruce probably sighed a bit of relief.

The relief isn't so much that TABOR will be saved.
