Obama up 7 in Colorado, CNN/Time poll shows

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is leading Colorado by 7 percentage points over Republican opponent John McCain, according to a Time/CNN poll released Wednesday.

Obama led McCain in Colorado 50-43 in the poll; Libertarian presidential nominee Bob Barr polled 3 percent, independent candidate Ralph Nader polled 3 percent, and Green Party nominee Cynthia McKinney polled 1 percent.

New poll shows Obama, McCain neck-and-neck; Barr polls 8 percent

The latest Zogby poll shows presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama leading presumptive Republican opponent John McCain by only two percentage points in Colorado.

But the poll's real surprise was that Libertarian presidential nominee, former GOP U.S. Rep. Bob Barr, polled 8 percent.

Barr captures Libertarian presidential nomination

Former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr won the Libertarian nomination for president Sunday afternoon at the Denver Sheraton.

Barr won on the sixth ballot over longtime Libertarian activist Mary Ruwart 54 percent to 46 percent.

Libertarian National Convention delegates now have to select a vice-presidential candidate. Barr has backed third-place presidential finisher Wayne Allyn Root of Nevada; Root helped Barr secure the nomination by swinging his support to Barr during the last ballot.

Libertarians mull presidential pick at national convention in Denver

In contrast to the upcoming DNC or the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis this September, the 2008 Libertarian National Convention is anything but a coronation.
