The DSCC and Michael Bennet

According to a report in The Hill, the head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Sen. Robert Menedez, D-N.J., said he assumes his organization will back Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., in his bid to retain former Sen. Ken Salazar’s seat in 2010.

From the article: “No Democratic incumbents were expected to leave their seats, but Menendez’s promise only means there won’t be open seats on top of the ones left by four members of the new administration — (Barack) Obama, Vice President (Joe) Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

“In those seats, three of the four appointees could run for election, and all three face potential primary challenges.

DSCC to pull out of Colorado by next Tuesday

In a sign national Democrats are confident about Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Mark Udall's chances on Nov. 4, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee will stop its television advertising in Colorado by Tuesday, the Denver Post reported Wednesday.

The DSCC, which has spent nearly $4.6 million on advertising in support of Udall against Republican opponent Bob Schaffer, will focus instead on U.S. Senate races in other states, according to the Post.

Kaminsky questions Post bias

The Inside Edge covered the multiple stories by the Denver Post about Bob Schaffer's involvement in Mariana Islands legislation. The subsequent fact finding mission that then-US Rep Schaffer went on to the Islands was eventually to have been shown to be "partly" paid for by the notorious Jack Abramoff.

DSCC trumpets Mariana Islands legislation

As President Bush signed a bill extending US labor and immigration laws to the US-governed Mariana Islands, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in a press release today blasted US Senate candidate Bob Schaffer for his role in allegedly helping a now-jailed former lobbyist prevent such legislation while Schaffer served in the US House of Representatives.

Schaffer campaign manager, Dick Wadhams, countered that Schaffer's opponent never even inquired about labor conditions in the Mariana Islands while serving in the US House at the time.
