Eng campaign poll shows Dem within 5 points of Coffman

An internal poll commissioned by 6th Congressional District Democratic nominee Hank Eng's campaign shows Eng within 5 percentage points of Republican nominee Mike Coffman.

That's much closer than most observers of the race have been forecasting in the heavily Republican district. Coffman manager Dustin Zvonek said his campaign's latest poll, taken three weeks ago, showed a 21-point Coffman lead.

Eng releases first two TV ads on cable

Sixth Congressional District Democratic candidate Hank Eng is finally on the air, releasing two commercials and making cable TV ad buys on Friday.

The commercials - both of which target Republican voters and blast Republican opponent Mike Coffman -- are the first to be aired by the Eng campaign.

In the first commercial, called "Who's Hank?", began running on Friday thanks to a weekend ad buy of about $20,000.

3Q fundraising numbers for Colorado candidates

The numbers are in for federal candidate fundraising during the third quarter of 2008. Here's how Colorado candidates did:

NOTE: The numbers for both major-party U.S. Senate candidates are fundraising totals for the entire third quarter of 2008 (July 1-Sept. 30). However, the numbers listed for U.S. House candidates are for only the period between July 24, 2008 and Sept. 30, 2008, because the period between July 1 and July 24 was covered by candidates' pre-primary reports.

Salazar to Coffman: 'Welcome to the delegation'

 

Judging from his comments at Saturday's Club 20 meeting, U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Denver) has already called the 6th Congressional District race for Republican Mike Coffman.

"I see Treasurer (sic) Coffman," Salazar said, according to the Grand Junction Sentinel's Political Notebook. "Welcome to the delegation."

With the 6th Congressional District primary days away, Mike Coffman’s campaign is clearly feeling good about his chances in the race.

His campaign sent out an e-mail Monday looking for interns for his general campaign office, but it sounded like he was already taking office in Washington.

Collins Drops Out Of CD-6 Race

CD-6 Democratic candidate Mike Collins said Tuesday that he is ending his campaign, leaving former Appleton, Wis. City Council member Hank Eng as the sole Democrat left in the race.

Collins said he was dropping out because of health problems related to injuries he suffered while a soldier in Vietnam. Mike lost his larynx to cancer associated with exposure to Agent Orange.

Eng Looks To Bring Outsider's Perspective To CD-6 Race

 

Could Congress' most vocal opponent of illegal immigration be succeeded by a son of Chinese immigrants?

Hank Eng, who jumped in the Democratic race last week for outgoing U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo's CD-6 seat, sure hopes so.

Eng, a former Appleton, Wis. city council member, has no campaign war chest, only moved to Colorado in 2005, and is running for a Congressional seat no Democrat has ever won since the district was created in 1982.
